As a software developer, I spend a lot of time reading blogs. Mostly, it's just work-related and I'm looking for some copy-and-paste code sample or secret insight to save me from the unthinkable: thinking for myself.
But one thing I could never understand were all these blogs by people about...well...nothing. Who are these people? And where do they find the time to blog all the time? Heck, I don't know. I guess they're in the same club as those cafe people you see when driving to work, or during lunch when frantically trying to squeeze in a few errands. You know the types. They have that glazed-over happy look. Somehow, some way, they don't have to work. But you and I do. Bastards.
Anyhow, I'm kind of liking this blog thing. Basically, I started this blog to chronicle what it's like for normal people - not those scary dog-nut types - to keep and raise two BIG dogs. So, if you're the type of person who sometimes misses a walk and finds it hard to be strict because your canine companion is too cute for punishment, then this is the blog for you.
Without further adue, allow me to introduce Bernie and Homer, two rambunctious Bernese Mountain dogs that love people almost as much as they love destroying things. Bernie, the larger one, has all the looks. Homer, the smaller one (but still growing) isn't quite the looker, but has all the brains.

That's an adorable photo! What a cutie! Somebody said you were doing a shameless self-promotion. Why? I have no clue. Plus, I liked your comments about dog lovers and "dog LOVERS." There are definitely more than two types of dog people. There are the "closet" dog people who act like they are not like those extroverted types that are all "I love my doggy woggy, yes I DO!" Those "closet dog lovers" are all like that at home. Let's be real. Everyone who has a dog acts affectionate around their dog even if not done in public. So since you are not the outwardly "all dogs, all the time" type, you must be the closet "doggy woggy woggy" type.
Whichever you are, it's fine by me. Anyone who loves dogs has a good heart and that's cool.

Our "Bernie" died little over a year ago and it is still painful because we miss him a lot. Our hearts leaped for joy when we read your story. We understood and laughed. We went through a lot too and I thought that all Berners are so expensive to keep and maintain. Thanks you

Our Bernie is just 5 years old so we still have more years ahead of us...but I know the end will be tough.

Eric, I just brought my lovable berner home 2 weeks ago. She is so cute and cuddly. However, I do think she is part vampire as she thinks I am the best chew toy in the world. I have really enjoyed your stories. I look forward to starting my own blog about the adventures of Willow. She will be a spoiled rotten show dog as she is a perfect specimen(according to the breeder). Can't wait to see how she will do.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only crazy person who finds antics of animals much more entertaining than humans. I wish you great luck with your blog. I don't blog, but I tell you, having 15 animals would make me be constantly on the computer instead of spending time with all my crazy critters. I,m also in the pre- Bernese Mountain Dog stage. I figure what more could I have destroyed in my home. Cup-boads,couches, Rugs,toys not to mention the $4000.00 landscape redo due to running though the garden beds. At the end of the day--I love them all.
Hi! i heard about your loss im so sorry to here that iread your articals and we got a berner puppy hes 14 weeks old now and yes he's a land shark he likes (door casings) he takes them down in sections,also like ellas bras to ,and ellas vine plants he shortens them and killed the vac.cleaner but hes the love of our life
